Industry News

During President Trump’s UK visit, a major U.S.-UK tech prosperity deal was signed
, aiming to boost investment and create thousands of jobs. The agreement signals deepening economic ties and a focus on innovation, with CEOs from Nvidia, Microsoft, Rolls-Royce, and Boeing involved. As both countries navigate geopolitical tensions and economic challenges, the deal showcases how global partnerships might shape future workforce opportunities.

WeWork is quickly expanding its Coworking Partner Network with over 1,000 new locations across the U.S. and Canada, offering enterprise clients more flexible workspace options through its digital platform. This move leverages partnerships with over 600 operators to meet rising demand for distributed, on-demand workspaces—without opening new offices.

India has overtaken the US, UK, and France to become the world’s most advanced flexible office market. With nearly 80M sq ft already and 100M projected by 2026, it leads in innovation, scale, and operator diversity. Flex space demand has surged sixfold since 2020, now making up 15% of new leases. Global firms drive 72% of usage, especially in top hubs like Bengaluru and Delhi.

Nearly 26% of unemployed workers have been out of work for over six monthsthe highest in three years—with college grads now making up one-third of this group. Despite advanced degrees and experience, many white-collar professionals face long-term unemployment as tech, construction, and law sectors slow. Automation and hiring algorithms worsen the struggle, leaving job seekers overqualified and overlooked despite sending hundreds of applications and trying freelance or retraining.

Britain’s jobs market shows signs of slowing as payrolls decline for the seventh month and wage growth eases, easing some inflation concerns for the Bank of England. Unemployment holds steady at 4.7%, while wage growth stays above target levels, leaving the BoE wary but hopeful for a less turbulent labor market ahead.

Looking to 2026, nearly 6 in 10 U.S. employers expect job cuts, often replacing staff with AI. And nearly half of U.S. employers slowed or frozen hiring in 2025, with over a third planning layoffs before year-end. Economic uncertainty, trade policies, and AI adoption are driving this. High-salary, entry-level, and low-AI-skilled workers face the highest risks as companies prioritize automation and cost efficiency, pushing professionals to reskill or risk obsolescence.

Google is investing £5 billion in the UK, unveiling a new AI-focused data center near London. The move is expected to create over 8,000 jobs and strengthen US-UK economic ties. Partnering with Shell, Google aims to boost energy grid stability and cut environmental impact, targeting nearly 95% carbon-free energy use by 2026.
